Ulske’s New Home

I just got back from helping Dad transport Ulske, our star mare Lukas x Reitse, to her new owner.  Mom and Dad bought Ulske as a weanling and she is now 8 years old, broke to ride and drive. She is a nice mare, but we could not get her pregnant, so we had to sell her. Her new family are not looking to breed; mostly they just want to ride and drive Ulske and love her. Ulske's new family are wonderful, kind horse lovers and her new mom, Lisa, is working with her husband on finishing off their homestead, recently inherited. 250 acres with miles of trails cut through pine forests. It is absolutely lovely. A horse paradise. Lisa is a very experienced rider and Ulske will be her personal mount. Ulske will also be the center of attention (which is what she loves the most – and did not get enough of at our place since we mostly dote on the broodmares), and Lisa could not stop grinning all day.

This is one time I was so happy for the horse and the new owner that I managed to keep from being sad for myself when saying goodbye.

I do not think Lisa will mind my sharing a picture from today. Here is Ulske and her owner Lisa, a new member of our Friesian community.
